Der Verfasser skizziert zunächst erkenntnistheoretische Grundlagen der Wirtschaftswissenschaften, die er in drei Annahmen faßt: Gesetzmäßigkeit der Erkenntnis der Naturordnung, Trennung von Geist und Materie, geometrisches Wissen als Maßstab von Gewißheit. Vor dem Hintergrund einer Problematisierung dieser Grundannahmen werden zentrale Elemente und Verknüpfungsregeln des ökonomischen Denkens einer kritischen Überprüfung unterzogen. Hierbei geht es um die Denkfiguren des "autonomen, egozentrischen Individuums", der Nutzenmaximierungshypothese, des Postulats der Wertfreiheit und des "selbstregulierenden Markts". Der Verfasser kommt zu dem Ergebnis, daß die "gesamte Konzeptualisierung der Wirtschaftswissenschaften" als problematisch anzusehen sei. Als Alternative verweist er abschließend auf Forschungsansätze, die den Menschen als soziales Wesen in den Vordergrund stellen. (WZ)

"Arbeit" gilt den Menschen einmal als "bewußtes Handeln und Erfüllung des menschlichen Daseins" zum anderen als "Fluch der Menschheit" und Ursache von Krankheit und Zerstörung des Menschen. In Anknüpfung an Hannah Arendt expliziert der Autor die Unterscheidung zwischen Arbeit, Herstellen und Handeln und beschreibt die Ausformung der Bewertung menschlicher Tätigkeit in der Ideen- und Sozialgeschichte von der Antike bis in die Gegenwart. Als eigentliches Problem erweist sich nicht die abstrakte Beziehung zwischen Arbeit und Mangel, sondern die gesellschaftliche Organisation und Bewertung der Arbeit. Ungerechtigkeit entsteht nicht durch die notwendige Tätigkeit an sich, sondern durch die sozialen und politischen Bedingungen, unter denen sie verrichtet werden. Eine Verkürzung des Arbeitstages hebt die Entfremdung während der Arbeitszeit noch nicht auf. Den Gewerkschaften wirft der Autor vor, daß ihre Forderungen nach Arbeitsplatzsicherung und Arbeitszeitverkürzung häufig die konventionell-hierarchischen Strukturen konservieren, anstatt neue Formen einer kooperativen Betriebsorganisation zu fördern. Technologische Entwicklungen, Rationalisierung und Verknappung der Arbeitsplätze fördern die Orientierung an sinnentleerter, fremdbestimmter Tätigkeit. Die Verkürzung der für die Reproduktion der Gesellschaft notwendigen Arbeitszeit, sollte jedoch nicht als Bedrohung aufgefaßt werden. Ihr sollte man mit einer Förderung des "sozial-politischen Handelns" begegnen. "Handeln" sei dabei im antiken Sinne als die vornehmste menschliche Tätigkeit zu begreifen. (KA)

AbstractThis paper introduces an extension of the v. Neumann model of an expanding economy. In addition to the conventional nonnegative input and output matrices A1, B1 representing technology, two matrices A2, B2 represent socio‐political evaluations and show that there exist solutions to the 4‐matrix model. The proof is based on an extension of a constructive proof given by O. Morgenstern and G. L. Thompson. It is shown that this proof is valid only under an additional assumption. The transformation of v. Neumann models (taking consumption into account) into 1 or 2 games is shown and adds an additional condition to M. Morishima's model to guarantee a solution. The equivalence of the v. Neumann model to a maximization problem under a (efficiency) constraint is presented. It is shown that E. Malinvaud's maximality and efficiency criterion ‐ if based on the same assumptions (model) ‐ are equivalent and specify the assumptions which will make the MT‐model efficient. The economic evaluation is considered to be of utmost importance.

Say combines deductivism with a strong resistance to mathematicization. An examination of the political discourse on social order since the end of the fifteenth century. Referring to Niccolo Macchiavelli, it is pointed out that men are able to shape their environment by vanquishing fortuna. The individualization of society leads to the loss of security of the community, which ought to guarantee a life appropriate to social rank. As a result, the modern exchange society has to confer property rights on the individual. This problem is discussed in the theories of Grotius, S. Pufendorf, Thomas Hobbes, & John Locke; it is based on a rational foundation, the hypothetical premise of the status naturalis. David Hume, however, demonstrates that the concept of right is a product of the actual circumstances of life. This approach is enlarged by Adam Smith, who mentions that in nature & society everything is calculated to promote the same great end, the order of the world. Smith's theory undertakes, in a procedural resolution of theodicy, to place "evil" in means-ends relation with "good" as a motivating force of progress. Social development & order are founded on the idea of social intercourse of the free, & give rise to the growth of society. It is Smith's opus that gives a coherent intellectual basis to the social structure today called the "economy.". AA
